Getting involved with REG

We are looking for people to develop, co-produce and deliver workshops with us

hello@plymouthreg.com

Everything we do at Plymouth REG is co-produced with professional knowledge and lived experience perspectives in equal value.

We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without collaborating with a variety of individuals and organisations who all bring unique and valuable perspectives about a number of important topics that we are able to cover through our workshops.

Collaborating with REG is a fantastic opportunity for people in Plymouth to make connections and be part of something brilliant where they get to use their professional or lived experience to help others in educational, compassionate and empowering ways.

We aim to collaborate with different organisations and communities around the city to develop workshops that capture the intersectionality of our lived experiences.

Are you interested in promoting mental health recovery? Do you have lived or professional experience of mental health and/or neurological conditions?

We are always looking for individuals with a passion for mental health recovery and empowerment to join our development group. We want to hear from people who are interested in sharing their knowledge of mental health recovery, whether from personal experience, professional training or both.

This is an opportunity to help us develop collaborative workshops on topics relating to mental health and neurological conditions.

You are welcome to join us voluntarily, or we are able to offer payment at the rate of £18 per hour, which you would need to claim on a self-employed basis.

You must be 18+ to be involved with Plymouth REG.

We are looking for members who bring:

  • unique perspectives
  • expert experience whether professional, lived, or both
  • different professional background

This is to make sure that we are capturing a variety of different experiences and perspectives through our work.

We are looking to offer more educational and interactive workshops that cover a wider variety of mental health experiences, and we want to collaborate with new people to do this.

We're looking for people from a variety of professional and lived experience backgrounds in Plymouth who would like to use their own understanding and knowledge to help educate others all whilst creating a safe space for people to connect about their experiences and to feel less alone.

Our workshops have so far included topics such as:

  • Understanding Psychosis
  • Understanding Extreme Moods
  • Trauma in the Body
  • Understanding Mental Health Medication
  • Understanding your Mental Health as a Neurodivergent Person
  • Understanding and Tackling Perfectionism
  • Understanding and Coping with EUPD

We welcome any new ideas, and we are particularly interested in creating new workshops that cover topics such as:

Mental health at work

Menstrual Health and the impact on mental health

Managing anxiety

Building confidence and self esteem

Understanding Trauma

Supporting children with mental health struggles

I am an expert by experience with anxiety, depression, EUPD, and ADHD. I have worked in psychology for 9 years, with the aim to become a clinical psychologist one day.

As someone who is very passionate about mental health awareness and recovery, I became a part of Plymouth REG because their values align strongly with my own, and so that I could have the opportunity to empower others with my story and lived experience of mental health. I founded D&C Directory as a result of wanting to make mental health services more accessible.

I joined REG because I believe that lived experience perspectives are an invaluable part of mental health recovery and healthcare.

I have a background in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, primarily working in Neurodiversity Education and Support.

I was diagnosed with ADHD 2 years ago and learning to understand myself better through this discovery has been life changing for me. As a result, I now use my own experience and knowledge to help others on similar journeys with improving their mental health and their relationships with themselves.

I am a consultant Clinical Psychologist working for Livewell Southwest in recovery services. I have been working with people who have experiences that get labelled as psychosis for many years. We explore different ways of making sense of their experiences and developing different ways of coping with them.

I am interested in how trauma can lead to these kinds of difficulties and how compassion can support recovery. I believe that people who have had their own difficulties have an important role to play in supporting the recovery of others.
