Understanding and Responding to ‘Psychosis’

June 19 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm
Free

Learn more about why people have unusual experiences and the best ways of coping with them when they cause distress and difficulty.

Please note: this workshop consists of two sessions on 19th June and 3rd July. Each session will take place from 10.30 am to 1pm at Quaker House, 74 Mutley Plain, Plymouth, PL4 6LF .
It is advised that you attend all sessions in order to get the best out of it, so please only book if you can attend both sessions.
What to expect from this workshop:
  • You will hear from people with lived experience of recovery.
  • You will have a chance to share your own experiences if you want to and connect with others who understand what it is like to be affected by psychosis.
  • We will share information about different ways of making sense of unusual experiences that can lead to a diagnosis of psychosis
  • We will also explore psychological approaches to managing unusual experiences and working towards recovery.
  • We will not be discussing medical approaches to treatment (look out for our medication workshops in the near future)

Who is this workshop for:

  • People who have experiences that may get labelled as psychosis, with or without a diagnosis
  • Their family, friends and carers
  • Mental health workers
  • Anyone who wants to know more about mental health and recovery

Why have we created this workshop?

Many people feel hopeless, helpless and alone when they or someone they care about is diagnosed with psychosis. We want people to know that there is hope and there are things you can do that make a difference.

This workshop will be a safe and validating space and we ask that this is respected by everyone in attendance in order to make it as valuable and positive for everyone as possible.
There will be a maximum of 16 people taking part in the workshop with 3 facilitators who have
professional and lived experience.
If you have any access requirements to enable you to attend this workshop, please let us know by
contacting us at hello@plymouthreg.com.
Due to our specialist knowledge, our workshops are for people aged over 18 only.
If you don’t manage to get a place on this workshop don’t worry, we will be running it again. You
can sign up to our mailing list to find out about future workshop dates by visiting our website
at www.plymouthreg.com
Unfortunately we have had an increase in no-shows at our workshops recently. We understand that
things can come up last minute that mean you aren’t able to attend, so where possible, we ask that
you let us know in advance if you are no longer able to attend by cancelling your ticket to give other
people the opportunity to attend.
