Collaborating with REG

We are looking for people to develop, co-produce and deliver workshops with us

Collaborating with REG

Plymouth Mental Health Recovery and Empowerment Group (REG) was started by a group of individuals who are professionals and experts by experience passionate about helping others.

We have come together to share our own ideas about mental health recovery by co-producing educational workshops that bridge the gap between professional and lived experience.

We have been delighted by offers from other individuals and organisations to collaborate with us by sharing their own skills and areas of expertise. This year we are looking to develop this further through our Collaborators Project.

The Collaborators Project

The Collaborators project will be a fantastic opportunity for people in Plymouth to make connections and be part of something brilliant where they get to use their professional experience to help others in educational, compassionate and empowering ways.

We plan to collaborate with different organisations and communities around the city to develop workshops that capture the intersectionality of our lived experiences.

We are also looking for new members of our Development Group to be involved in the growth of Plymouth REG and to bring their perspectives, expert experience and different professional backgrounds to our workshops and to make sure we are capturing a variety of different experiences.

What we're looking for from you

We are looking to offer more educational and interactive workshops that cover a wider variety of mental health experiences, and we want to collaborate with new people to do this.

We're looking for people from a variety of professional backgrounds and organisations in Plymouth who would like to use their own understanding and knowledge to help educate others all whilst creating a safe space for people to connect about their experiences and to feel less alone.

Our workshops have so far included topics such as:

  • Understanding Psychosis
  • Understanding Extreme Moods
  • Trauma in the Body
  • Understanding Mental Health Medication

We are particularly interested in creating new workshops that cover topics such as:

Mental health at work

Managing anxiety

LGBT+ experiences of mental health

Building confidence and self esteem

Neurodiversity and mental health

Understanding Trauma

Supporting children with mental health struggles

What we want to achieve

Our mission is to inspire, empower and educate anyone who wants to improve their wellbeing or has an interest in learning about mental health to support others.

Our workshops are interactive, informative and educational, providing valuable information to help individuals to understand their experience better and to make sense of their struggles. We provide guidance for how people can manage their mental health experiences and support themselves and others with more compassion, patience and understanding.

Through highlighting these experiences, those who work with, live with or care for someone who is struggling with their mental health will get a wider picture of what their experience is and why it may be presenting the way it is. They will also learn ways that they can compassionately support these people through their struggles.

We want to make sure that we are creating workshops that cover a variety of different mental health experiences and different approaches to recovery and empowerment because different things will work for different people.

We acknowledge and appreciate the value that different perspectives can bring to this work and how vital this is.
