Exploring the connection between your mental health and the menstrual cycle

Plymouth REG is excited to announce a brand new workshop!
Exploring the connection between your mental health and the menstrual cycle – co-facilitated by Emily Lyons, Maddy Luxton and Josie Burden
This workshop will shine a light on the different phases of the menstrual cycle and how they can impact our mental health.
We will focus on reducing stigma around menstrual health by empowering participants to understand and connect with their body and mind during the different phases of their menstrual cycle.
In this workshop, we will explore:
- the four phases of the menstrual cycle: menstruation, follicular, ovulation and luteal
- How our mental health can fluctuate in response to the changes in our bodies during these phases
- ways to recognise and align with these changes in order to support ourselves with compassion and self acceptance
- the empowerment of cyclical living
We will share a practical understanding, some pockets of wisdom, and lived experience stories. There will be opportunities for you to reflect and discuss.
You can share as much or as little as you are comfortable with, there is no pressure.
This is a safe space for you to bring your whole self. However you relate to your cycle, you are welcome here.
The workshop is open to anyone who would like to learn more about the menstrual cycle and its effects on mental health.
- People whose mental health is affected by their menstrual cycle
- Their family, friends and carers
- Mental health and healthcare workers
- Anyone wanting to improve their connection with their cycle
Please note that our workshops are free to attend, and are open to anyone aged 18+. You do not need to bring anything to this workshop and refreshments will be provided.
This workshop will be held on Wednesday 18th November, 9:30am-12pm, Sapphos Cafe and Community Space, 55 Bretonside, Plymouth PL4 0BD
